A comprehensive illustrated history of women’s lingerie by Gilles Néret: corsets, crinolines, stockings, garters, bras, girdles, and erotic lingerie, examined from the perspectives of costume history, popular imagery, and seduction. The book brings together a particularly extensive collection of images: antique engravings, advertisements, fashion photographs, erotic photographs, film stills, pin-ups, and documents from the 19th and 20th centuries. This edition is the comprehensive volume from which the abridged selection *Dessous* was later derived. The bibliographic entry for the latter indeed specifies that it is a selection of 1,000 items from *Dessous*. Condition: generally good; hardcover with some scuffing and minor signs of wear; interior clean.
