EPAL. 2 Mohars, SE 1711 (1789). Rana Bahadur. NGC AU-58. Fr-5; KM-515. Weight: 10.84 gms. One of the first gold coins struck Nepal, and seemingly the first to have been struck using distinct dies. An EXTREMELY RARE type of which we can find no other sold examples in auction records of the past 25 years. Well-struck, with a touch of wear to the high-points but bold detail remaining and a pleasing orange-gold patina accentuating the surfaces. Estimate: $7,000 - $9,000. Provenance: Ex: Nicholas Rhodes Collection (sold privately by Spink - 3/1978).
