Natural Yooperlite ball – rare UV-reactive collectible- 525.68 g

This extraordinary Yooperlite sphere – also known as sodalite lava, UV sodalite, or a special form of fluorescing syenite – reveals under UV light an almost magical spectacle. The normally gray-black speckled surface begins to glow a vivid orange and creates a living pattern of fiery light islands, reminiscent of glowing magma veins. In normal light the sphere shows an elegant, granular structure of feldspar-rich rock components, black mineral fragments, and the characteristic orange sodalite inclusions. But only in UV light does it reveal its true peculiarity – an effect that makes each piece a rare and sought-after showpiece and a real highlight in collections of fluorescent minerals. The natural luminescence is produced by special sodalite components that occur in this form only at a few places worldwide. This makes the sphere not only visually striking but also a value-enhancing collector’s item from a comparatively young but highly attractive collecting-trend.
