This sphere was carved from a single large natural fluorite crystal sourced from China. Fluorite, usually, tends to form fragile, well-defined crystals, difficult to obtain in sufficiently large and compact masses to allow a perfect polish as in this case. The mirror-polished surface reveals a complex internal architecture of cubic crystals and translucent bands alternating in emerald green, turquoise, and deep blue hues, with golden reflections produced by delicate natural inclusions. Every angle of the sphere seems to enclose a mineral landscape, a play of light and transparency that varies with the incidence of light. Fluorite is a fascinating mineral, known since ancient times for its perfect crystalline symmetry and its fluorescence under ultraviolet light, from which the name itself derives. In the past it was called “fluorspar” (spato fluorescente) and used both as an ornamental mineral and as a carving stone. Scientifically, it is calcium fluoride (CaF₂), belonging to the cubic system, with a hardness of 4 on the Mohs scale. Symbolically, fluorite is considered a stone of mental clarity and harmony, capable of balancing energies and promoting concentration. In Eastern cultures, the green variety in particular is associated with regeneration and spiritual renewal. This sphere is ideal both as a meditation or energetic object and as a decorative element for collectors and mineral enthusiasts.
