Natural Double Asteroceras Ammonite Specimen on Matrix...

An attractive and completely natural double Asteroceras sp. ammonite specimen, preserved together on its original limestone matrix and collected from the famous Charmouth area of Dorset, Jurassic Coast, United Kingdom. The specimen contains two Asteroceras ammonites, naturally preserved on the same slab. Both specimens display strong, well-defined radial ribbing and excellent three-dimensional relief, with the characteristic robust morphology of this Lower Jurassic ammonite genus. The dark brown to bronze fossilized shells contrast beautifully with the light-coloured limestone matrix, producing a particularly attractive natural display. Both ammonites and the matrix are completely natural. No reconstruction, restoration, artificial enhancement or added material has been applied. The specimen is supplied with a custom-made display support, allowing it to be presented upright and securely displayed. Specifications: * Fossils: 2 × Asteroceras sp. Biggest specimen is 7 cm. * Age: Early Jurassic, Sinemurian * Approximate age: 195–196 million years * Locality: Charmouth, Dorset, Jurassic Coast, United Kingdom * Matrix/nodule dimensions: approximately 12 × 10 × 5 cm * Condition: Natural, unrestored specimen * Display: Includes metal display support Asteroceras is a characteristic ammonite genus of the Lower Jurassic deposits of southern England, particularly associated with the Sinemurian ammonite successions of the Dorset Jurassic Coast.
