Naar Maurice Picaud - Relief

This auction features a gold bas-relief inspired by the iconic façade relief that has adorned the entrance of the world-famous Folies Bergère revue theater in Paris since 1925. This impressive, meter-high artwork in Art Deco style was designed by the renowned French architect and interior designer Maurice Picaud, also known as Pico (1900-1977). Picaud's masterpiece celebrates the essence of the Art Deco movement and captures the lush, exotic atmosphere of Parisian nightlife in the 1920s. The artwork, titled 'Serpentine Dancer', depicts the famous dancer Lila Nikolska in her graceful movements. The abstract swirls and shapes surrounding her reinforce the dynamism and energy of her dance, giving this work a timeless appeal. The Folies Bergère revue theater, founded in 1869 as a music hall, enjoyed its heyday in the 1890s up to World War II. This iconic theater is still in operation and has a rich history. The piece offered in this auction is manufactured according to Maurice Picaud's original relief by Atelier Laurier Design. The item is in excellent condition and will be carefully packed for shipping, including insurance against loss or damage during transport.
