Murano glass - Necklace - Opera

Long necklace made entirely by hand, uniting lamp-worked Murano glass beads and beads covered with Venetian seed beads. The five glass beads, on an opaque turquoise base, are lamp-worked in Murano and enriched with submerged dichroic glass inserts. The dichroic glass has the characteristic of changing color with light and the viewing angle: reflections shift from green to gold, from copper to blue, in a tiled pattern bordered by thin black outlines. Among these alternate four seed-bead-covered beads, hand-stitched one by one around an internal core, in black, turquoise or both colors. The seed beads, the small glass beads of the Venetian tradition, also form the necklace’s thread. Petal-cap cups with an antique finish and faceted aquamarine beads complete each bead, while some turquoise beads punctuate the black thread. The length allows wearing it long, down to mid-chest, or doubled around the neck. Each necklace is unique: the dichroic reflections and the arrangement of seed beads vary from piece to piece, as is typical of artisanal work.
