Mosasaur - Fossilised jaw - Halisaurus arambourgi - 40 cm

Scientific Name: Halisaurus arambourgi Location: Morocco phosphate mines (Oulad Abdoun Basin – Khouribga) Stage: Cretaceous Size: Matrix: 40 cm Fossil description: Very special and extremely rare specimen of Halisaurus arambourgi, a relatively uncommon basal mosasaur within Morocco's phosphate deposits. The piece features a notably complete jaw, with a large amount of preserved bone and teeth visible in their natural position. The 40 cm matrix contains the embedded jaw and offers enormous potential: it can be worked to extract the complete jaw, as part of the bony material remains within the rock. This type of specimen, with such bone integrity and coming from phosphate deposits, is very hard to find, making the piece an ideal fossil for advanced collectors and museum exhibitions. Restoration: Unprepared matrix; natural fossils. Possibility of additional preparation to expose more bone. ref: 3563
