Model ship - Zeilschip - French ship of the line 'La Couronne'

Gorgeous, highly detailed, hand-built wooden model of the historic French line-of-battle ship "La Couronne" from 1636. This impressive ship was the first major warship fully designed and built by the French themselves under the leadership of Cardinal Richelieu. This scale model is very likely built from a high-quality wooden construction kit (such as Corel or Mantua). Condition and restoration information: This model is offered as a restoration and cleaning project for the enthusiast. Woodwork & Hull: The wooden hull, masts and construction are in a solid, structurally sound condition. Details such as the gun ports, the gallery at the stern and the rigging points are well preserved. Sails & Rigging: The linen sails and rigging have collected a lot of dust over the years and show signs of age (patina). Some parts of the rigging may need to be tightened or repaired. Standard: The ship sits on a very unique, decorative base with a rock- and coral-like texture, which deviates from standard wooden planks. In short: A fantastic base for a model builder or collector to restore this monumental ship to absolute top condition. Specifications: Historically accurate ship: La Couronne (1636) Material: Various woods, brass details, linen sails Delivery / Transport: Due to the extremely fragile nature of the masts and rigging, this model cannot be shipped under any circumstances. This lot is available for pickup only in Wijngaarden ZH, the Netherlands."
