全部拍賣 / Ancient Art / Miniature Nanbu Tekki Cast Iron Tetsubin Tea Pot and 6...

This exceptional, curated Japanese collection presents a beautiful dialogue between traditional metallurgy and rustic pottery styles from the mid-to-late 20th century. The centerpiece of the lot is an incredibly rare, miniature cast iron tetsubin kettle crafted in the historical Nanbu Tekki tradition of Iwate prefecture. Accompanying the iron tetsubin are three distinct pairs of highly individual, hand-thrown ceramic sake cups that perfectly celebrate the organic beauty of the Wabi-Sabi philosophy, focusing on rustic textures, natural ash glazes, and tactile irregularities. 1- Measuring a diminutive 7 cm in diameter and 4.5 cm in height, this small-scale kettle features the classic, dense Arare hailstone relief pattern and is finished with a warm, rich brown-bronze patina, making it a highly sought-after display or ritual object for connoisseurs of fine Japanese metalwork. 2-3- The first pair of ceramic cups measures 5.5 cm in diameter and 2.5 cm in height. They are hand-formed from a rich red stoneware clay left exposed and unglazed at the foot, while the upper bodies feature an asymmetrical olive-beige glaze. The interiors are remarkably carved with an incised spiral vortex or Uzumaki motif, a traditional symbol of dynamic energy and prosperity, while the artisan’s small circular seal is elegantly stamped on the side of the exposed clay body. 4-5- The second pair introduces a taller, footed chalice shape measuring 5 cm in diameter and 3.5 cm in height. These cups are reminiscent of Karatsu ware, characterized by a grey-beige stoneware speckled with natural iron inclusions. The upper rims are dipped in a dark brown Temmoku glaze band, while the interiors are coated in a glossy, mottled grey-green glaze showcasing variations from the kiln firing. The potter's signature is directly pressed in relief into the recessed center of the raw clay foot. 6-7- The final pair of cups completes the set with a prominent high-stemmed silhouette measuring 5 cm in diameter and 5.5 cm in height. The exteriors display a complex, multi-layered treatment with a mottled iron-brown slip under cascading cream glazes. In beautiful contrast, the interiors feature a light cream-yellow glaze with an intense, dense Kanyu crackle pattern, a revered aesthetic trait designed to deepen in color through usage over time. The underside of each stem displays a crisp, square artist seal stamped into the clay, reading Taka. This unique ensemble of seven pieces is offered in excellent vintage condition throughout, with no chips, cracks, or structural damages to either the ironwork or the ceramics. It stands as a brilliant showcase of master craftsmanship and texture contrast, ready for registered shipping with meticulous packaging.
