A most surely Victorian era sword in the style of an early 16th-century Landsknecht Zweihänder. Featuring a very long leather covered wooden grip with a central riser ring, characteristic of large two-handed swords and designed to provide additional leverage and control. The sword is fitted with a distinctive fluted "scented-stopper" style pommel. The crossguard features down turned, slightly curved quillons. The sword appears to be a Victorian-era reproduction or revival piece modeled after early 16th-century Landsknecht Zweihander forms. From a Kent, CT estate. Dimensions: blade measures approx. 41" in length and the overall length is 57" in length. Condition: Condition commensurate with age and use, with surface wear and imperfections throughout.
