After moving to Colorado, he expanded his practice by experimenting with a variety of woods and metals, eventually translating his carving skills into distinctive silver and gold jewelry. Little Elk further developed his artistry under the guidance and influence of celebrated Native American jewelers Charles Loloma, Kenneth Begay, and Preston Monongye. Combining traditional techniques with contemporary design, he became known for meticulously fabricated jewelry distinguished by sculptural forms and fine craftsmanship.
