Merrow Overlock 60WD 1920 Sewing machine - Cast iron

For the true enthusiast, collector, or professional restaurateur: a splendid, authentic industrial overlock machine (serger) from the world-famous The Merrow Machine Company in Hartford, Connecticut (USA). Merrow is historically known as the inventor and pioneer of the original overlock stitch. This rare specimen belongs to the legendary Class 60 series and is a beautiful, tangible piece of industrial history over a century old. Main plus: Mechanical condition: The machine runs still completely smoothly! The handwheel and the internal mechanism move smoothly without friction or blockages. This makes the machine immediately suitable as a fantastic basis for a functional restoration, rather than merely a static decorative piece. Specifications & Details: Brand: The Merrow Machine Co. Model / Style: Style 60WD (Heavy 3-thread version) Serial number: No. 51778 (Fully legible on the original brass nameplate) Exact Year of Manufacture: Approx. 1920 (produced between 1919 and 1921 based on official factory archives) Material: Solid cast iron (very heavy, indestructible American quality) Origin: Hartford, Connecticut, U.S.A.
