Medieval European Bronze Signet Ring with Geometric Merchant Mark – 12th to 14th Century AD A medieval European bronze signet ring with a broad oval bezel engraved with a strongly geometric device composed of angular and linear elements, most consistent with a personal, merchant, workshop or ownership mark rather than a Christian cross. The shoulders are decorated with simple incised strokes that frame the bezel and reinforce the characteristic medieval appearance of the ring. The dark patina, surface wear and mineral deposits are consistent with prolonged age and burial. The form of the bezel, the engraved mark and the robust construction are most compatible with European signet rings of the later Middle Ages, particularly the 12th to 14th Century AD.
