全部拍賣 / Photographs / MÉCANIQUE POPULAIRE. PHOTO. Special Techniques for Photograp - Lot 175
MÉCANIQUE POPULAIRE. PHOTO. Special Techniques for Photography. Paris, Les Éditions M.P., 1952. Special issue, supplement to No. 70 of Mécanique Populaire. In-4, paperback, color-illustrated cover, approx. 70 pp., numerous black-and-white illustrations and photographs, photographic advertisements. The date 1952 and its identification as a supplement to No. 70 are confirmed by several sources dedicated to French photographic equipment from this period. Significance of the issue This is a practical special issue entirely devoted to photography, intended for amateurs: shooting techniques, lighting, camera maintenance, color photography, development, and laboratory processes. It is particularly interesting today for its abundant photographic and advertising imagery from the 1950s. It notably features French and foreign cameras available on the market at the time: Foca, Rex Reflex, Super Kinax, Alsaphot, Kodak Retinette, etc. The 1952 Photo-Plait catalog also confirms the specifications of the Kodak Retinette 24 × 36 featured in advertisements from that period: an Angénieux 1:4.5 lens and a shutter speed of up to 1/250th. The interior is richly illustrated with instructional photographs: portraits, children, outdoor scenes, and tips on framing and shooting. The cover, with its composition so characteristic of the 1950s—a photographer at work, a model in a red dress, and a yellow band of technical drawings—is in itself of considerable graphic interest. Fair condition. The copy appears complete and is still quite presentable, but shows signs of use: the cover is scuffed and soiled, with creases and small marginal tears; the spine and corners are worn; the interior paper is uniformly yellowed. A few small tears and signs of wear.
