Mauro Falcioni (Matelica - Italy - 1978) Acrylic painting on thick cardboard Work signed on the front and back with Certificate of Authenticity Mauro Falcioni was born in Matelica in 1978; he works in visual arts and illustration, also trained in web graphics without ever abandoning his true vocation: freehand drawing. His stylistic registers range from fantasy to more figurative representations, until he found in the surreal key the most effective solutions to express his view of the world. It is under this sign that his style matures over the years, transferring the marks of his pencils from paper to canvas and giving his works a recognizable grammar, made of recurring figures and scenes rich with meaning. His poetics: dreams and lived moments take shape through the passage into memory as much as through the creative act that, through the language used, delineates a difference between the work and the subject. This gap ends up constituting the very substance of the subject itself. The author represents this irreparable yet essential discrepancy, using psychoanalytic references typical of Jungian tradition. The cat guides, inseparably linked to man as a kite to a child, because different images of the same self, refer to the concept of the Shadow, the darkest part of us that we are forced to domesticate when approaching reality. Every other relationship is present as lack or as a hint aimed at formalizing it: delving into the self, the author compels us to confront loneliness-melancholy as the existential condition of man, his peculiarity of “falling out of the world.”
