全部拍賣 / Arts & Graphics / Maud Lewis Blue Tulips & Pussy Willows
Marshalltown, Nova Scotia. C. 1967/1968. The work shows five open blue tulips with yellow centre and green stems. Lewis has the brown anthers of the tulips showing. Alongside the tulips are nine stems of pussy willows. The plain background is creamy white. Lewis, as was typical, used an oblique angle to draw the viewer into the painting. The tulips and pussy willows appear bunched together ready to be put into a vase. This piece is a rare, experimental work by Lewis painted near the end of her life. Signed, "Maud. Lewis" lower right.
