Visible features • Face: The mask has a dark patinated wooden face, adorned with reliefs on the forehead, with half-closed eyes, a pronounced nose, and a mouth with tightly pressed lips. • Crown: The top of the head is surmounted by a small wooden sculpture depicting an animal (resembling a small dog or a feline). • Adornment: A voluminous ruff made of plant fibers or natural raffia surrounds the base of the mask. • Probable origin: This type of object traditionally belongs to the cultures of the Central Africa region, particularly to the initiation traditions and societies of the Suku people or neighboring groups.
