全部拍賣 / Books, Maps & Manuscripts / MAROT (Clément). The Works. Lyon, Guillaume Rouille, 1557. 2 - Lot 115
MAROT (Clément). The Works. Lyon, Guillaume Rouille, 1557. 2 parts in one in-16 volume, mastic morocco leather, fleur-de-lis border framing the covers, narrow panel in the center decorated with an interlaced frieze, all cold-stamped, spine decorated with fillets, interior lace, edges gilt and chiseled (Gruel). A collective edition from Lyon. It is adorned with a lovely series of 45 woodcut vignettes by Pierre Vase, previously used to illustrate an edition of Ovid’s *Metamorphoses*. (Baudrier, vol. IX, pp. 240–241; Mayer, no. 205.) The second part, with separate pagination and a separate title page, contains the poet’s translations. Charming binding by Gruel. Unidentified coat-of-arms bookplate. Title page and a few other leaves have been skillfully restored. Restoration extending a few millimeters into the side margin of some endpapers.
