Manner of Francois Boucher Study for a ceiling, with frolicking cherubs

oil on panel, oval, in an ornate gilt gesso frame, 51 x 61cm; framed 91 x 95cm, Condition Report, Condition Report, Circa 1850. The reverse is cradled. Fine horizontal cracking consistent with the grain of the panel. There is a slightly heavier line visible to the top of the painting in line with the top support panel verso, however the paint appears stable at present. Presents well overall. Examined under UV light, much of the surface is obscured by a thick layer of varnish that makes reading difficult and may mask earlier restoration.
