全部拍賣 / Jewelry & Gems / Magnificent Vintage Ring With Untreated Burma Ruby & Diamonds, c. 1975

Most of the ring designs that are still popular today found their most beautiful flowering in the years of the turn of the century. The Toi-et-Moi ring, the Marquise ring and finally the Entourage ring are among these popular classics. Especially the entourage ring, i.e. a ring with a large coloured stone in the center, framed by sparkling diamonds, has never gone out of fashion since. The ring here varies this classic shape and presents a wonderful, untreated ruby in a wonderfully vivid purple. Weighing about 1.80 carats, the stone has a beautiful radiance and shows the finest natural inclusions in the form of tiny little needles made of the mineral rutile. They are interwoven and form the so-called "silk" of the ruby, which gives the gemstone its unique shimmer depending on the incidence of light. The vast majority of rubies on the market today are post treated to intensify their colour and improve their purity, rubies that have neither undergone heat treatment nor irradiated are precious rarities and often much more expensive than diamonds of the same size. Such a "no heat" ruby from Burma we see here. The ruby is framed by 32 brilliant cut and trapezoid cut diamonds, with excellent colour and clarity. Here, the trapeze-cut diamonds are grouped into groups of four in a fan shape, leading to the narrow ring band, while the brilliant-cut diamonds are organized into two rows. Cool, lustrous, high karat white gold sets all the stones and presents the arrangement in true 1970s flavour. Two independent certificates have confirmed the value of the ruby and the ring's materials. They are included with the ring. The ring was probably created in Germany, it found its way to us here in Berlin.
