Original Pop Street Art artwork to display or hang BIOGRAPHY of THE ARTIST Lyssandre Saint York, Designer and artist born in the 1970s. My artistic work sits at the crossroads of two worlds that fascinate me: the raw energy of street art and the visual efficiency of pop art. I grew up amidst the emergence of the 70s style and Space Age design, a breakaway era where furniture abandoned pre-war sobriety to dare organic shapes, plastic and vibrant colors. Swayed by this bold aesthetic, I naturally first carved my path in design and fashion, designing and selling concepts worldwide for more than 30 years up to today. This mastery of structure and visual impact later unfolds in my artistic creations. My journey as an artist began with the game prism, composing my first works in Lego bricks under a frame. This artistic approach allowed me to revisit great icons of pop culture. From Star Wars heroes to indispensable figures like Mario Bros, Mickey or the iconic Scrooge McDuck, mixing luxury brand symbols with these Lego characters, iconic of an entire generation! I have always loved taking ownership of these symbols to give them a new dimension. This work naturally extended to sculpture creation with the rebellious graffiti environment of Banksy, or emblematic Art Toy characters. By diverting these sculptures and iconic figures, I play with contrasts to question our desires and our consumer society. This conceptual rigor dialogues with the absolute freedom of urban culture. Markers, spray cans, stencils, paint, drips and textural overlays, but also with techniques other than which I marry to the chromatic power of pop art. My works have thus become a visual collision where anti-conformist 70s design and luxury meet the subversive spontaneity of the street. By juxtaposing and reinventing these collective and cult icons in a graphic and instinctive aesthetic, I offer a reading that is nostalgic, double-entendre, impactful and resolutely contemporary, with societal themes and minimalist conceptual illustration.
