Luxurious Vintage Bangle with Diamond Roses in Gold, USA c. 1970

As in the previous decade, the USA experienced an economic boom in the 1960s. Rising wages also boosted consumption of jewellery and luxury goods. Jeweller catalogs of the time show a large number of designs that wonderfully capture the optimistic taste of the time. This bangle is a fine example of such American manufactured jewelry from around 1970 and is of a particularly high-quality design. The bangle is made of high-carat rose gold and consists of parallel narrow bars. The design widens in the middle to form a decorative showpiece that looks like a winding cord. Here, chased elements frame white gold sections that are set with sparkling diamond roses. Gold beads around the edges accentuate this area. For comparison, we have reproduced a page from the 1970 catalogue of Houston Jewelers in Texas, which shows a bracelet in a comparable design of gold cords and diamonds. The bracelet, which came to us from the Rhineland, is beautifully preserved and still impresses today with its elegant vintage chic.
