Lucien Clergue (1934–2014) - Lucien Clergue – Portfolio...

Lot Title: Lucien Clergue – "Belle des sables" Portfolio (1979) - Complete First Edition Description: Magnificent and highly sought-after original "Belle des sables" portfolio by the celebrated French photographer Lucien Clergue (1934–2014), published in its original first edition in October 1979 by the prestigious Éditions AGEP in Marseille, France. This collector's lot comes in an in-folio format and is fully detailed and verified through its official colophon (Dépôt légal n° 27/79, ISBN 2-902 634-01-3). The photographs for this series were captured on the beaches of Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer using Minolta camera bodies and lenses. The lot is fully complete and includes: Original Slipcase / Portfolio Box: Large-format outer folder illustrated by the publisher. Introductory Booklet (8 pages): Original in-folio booklet featuring a poetic introductory text in French written by Lucien Clergue himself, alongside a circular illustration on the title page. 10 Individual Photographic Plates: The complete series of 10 large-format color photolithographs printed on premium heavy paper with wide margins. Each plate features the artist's facsimile signature (printed on the plate) in the lower right corner. An essential piece capturing the pinnacle of Clergue's fine-art erotic photography, where the nude female body blends smoothly with the water, rim lighting from the sun, and the texture of the sand.
