Louis XVI Column - 1850-1900 - Fluted Ionic

It is a fluted Ionic wooden column, made in the 19th century but conceived under Louis XVI aesthetics, which from the outset makes it a hybrid and very suggestive piece: a nineteenth-century object looking toward the French neoclassicism of the last third of the 18th century, reinterpretating it with the artisanal sensibility of its own time. The Ionic structure is immediately recognizable in the capital: those lateral volutes, discreet but perfectly defined, that impart a cultured, classical air without falling into Corinthian exuberance. The shaft, fluted, marks the vertical rhythm with a soft, regular cadence, almost musical, typical of the Greco-Roman repertoire that the Louis XVI style rigorously recovers archaeologically. The wood, worked with precision, reveals a deep grain that softens the academic severity of the design and adds a warm, domestic, almost intimate dimension. The base and the capital show that taste for clear geometry and restrained ornamentation that defines French neoclassicism: clean moldings, balanced proportions, a sense of order that avoids any Baroque excess. Although the piece belongs to the 19th century, it preserves fidelity to the Louis XVI canon in its way of articulating the volumes: square pedestal, sharp transition to the shaft, elegant crown without ostentation. Taken together, this column functions as an architectural object turned into furniture, a miniature domestic temple meant to support sculptures, vases, or decorative elements. Its presence is serene, cultured and classic, perfect for interiors that seek that blend of French sobriety and nineteenth-century craftsmanship. Certified shipment and good packing
