This imposing castle lock dates from the second half of the 19th century (France, ca. 1850-1890) and is executed in the richly decorated Louis XV / Rococo revival style. The iron/steel cabinet is surrounded by splendid cast brass ormolu borders with acanthus leaves and rocalla. The accompanying knob is also richly chiselled with floral motifs.
