Liliana Rago (XX) - Vitrail - Épreuve d'Artiste (E.A.) - 1986 Vitrail

Liliana Rago (XX) - "Vitrail" - Artist's Proof (E.A.) - 1986 Superb original print by the artist Liliana Rago, titled "Vitrail" (Stained Glass), created in 1986. This abstract artwork captivates the viewer with its dynamic, geometric composition. Wide bands of a deep terracotta red intersect with thin, luminous yellow beams, beautifully evoking the metallic structure and light fragments of a stained-glass window. The lavender blue-grey background features delicate, organic, thread-like black patterns. The rich texture and depth of colors reflect a remarkable mastery of printmaking techniques (etching / aquatint). Handwritten pencil inscriptions and details: • Bottom left: Marked "e. a." for Épreuve d'Artiste (Artist's Proof—a privileged, limited edition reserved for the artist, separate from the standard numbered commercial edition). • Center: Titled "Vitrail" by the artist. • Bottom right: Hand-signed "Rago" and dated "1986". • Top left margin: Features an intimate and affectionate handwritten dedication by the artist: "Pour Élise avec toute mon affection Dec 90" (For Elise with all my affection, Dec 90). Dimensions: • With frame: 42 cm (Height) x 52 cm (Width) • Without frame (plate mark / artwork size): 25 cm (Height) x 37 cm (Width) Condition: Very good overall condition. The colors have beautifully retained their original freshness and intensity. Please note a tiny, discrete age spot in the bottom left margin (just above the e.a. mention), visible in the detail photos, which does not affect the beauty of the artwork. Sold under glass with its mat and original off-white frame. A rare piece full of history, perfect for collectors of geometric abstraction and mid-to-late 20th-century art.
