Lev Tolstói - Ana Karénine - 1887

An authentic work of mastery, both material and literary. The complete diptych of the first illustrated edition of the work in Spanish, from the iconic Library “Arte y Letras” (1887), the publishing project that revolutionized Spanish decorative printing at the end of the 19th century. What makes this copy unique: - Spectacular Tsarist iconography: The midnight-blue cloth covers, signed by F. Jorba, are hypnotically beautiful: they blend the white of the floral branches with the snowy architecture of Moscow and the imperial eagle crest in gold with pristine detail. The spines retain their catalog gold embossing intact. - Exceptional Graphic Apparatus: Each volume gathers engravings between text and magnificent full-page plates drawn expressly by the renowned illustrator Isidro Gil, capturing all the dramatic force of Leo Tolstoy. - Luxury Edition: Preserves the original extremely fine lithographed endpapers without tears, tinted edges, and inner covers printed in two colors (red and black). Condition State: Excellent condition (Collector’s Grade) - Binding: Very solid and firm. Cloths extraordinarily clean, without invasive stains and with gold, silver and color accents as vivid as the first day. Headbands and spine in magnificent conservation order. - Interior: Clean, compact leaves and not coming loose. Firm paper, without scribbles, without mutilations and with the inner plates impeccable. A fundamental piece for demanding bibliophiles, collectors of historical editions of Daniel Cortezo and lovers of the great Russian literary classics. It will be shipped perfectly protected with high-density material to preserve the state of both bindings.
