Laure Junot

Description: Magnificent complete 16-volume collection of the famous Mémoires de Laure Junot, Duchess of Abrantès, published in Paris by the prestigious art publisher Jean de Bonnot between 1967 and 1969. These captivating historical memoirs offer a premier, intimate account of Napoleon Bonaparte, the French Revolution, the Directory, the Consulate, the First Empire, and the Restoration. This set benefits from the luxury binding signature of Jean de Bonnot: full green sheep leather in Empire style, magnificently adorned with 22-carat gold tooling and repeated greyhound motifs on the spine, with rich borders on the panels. • Author: Laure Junot, Duchess of Abrantès • Publisher: Jean de Bonnot, Paris • Years of publication: 1967–1969 • Format: In-8 (approximately 21 x 14 cm) • Total number of pages: Complete in 16 volumes, about 6,400 pages (roughly 400 pages per volume) • Illustrations: Richly illustrated with fine black-and-white historical engravings and frontispieces in each volume. Condition: Exceptional condition, near mint. A rare fact: the books have never been opened (the photos of the title pages and binding are deliberately limited to avoid cracking the spine and to preserve the original rigidity of the binding). The green leather bindings are perfectly supple and impeccably preserved. The gilding with fine gold on the spines and panels is brilliantly clear and sharp. The head edges are gilded with fine gold. The interior pages are very clean, printed on high-quality watermark rag paper, with no foxing or annotations. A library copy unusually well cared for and unread. Estimated value: €150 – €300 Logistics and shipping: • Net weight of the books: approximately 11.6 kg to 12 kg (excluding packing materials). • Estimated package weight: approximately 13.5 kg (carefully packed with multiple layers of bubble wrap and thick cardboard to prevent any impact on corners during transport). • Shipping method: Secure shipment with tracking number and insurance up to the value.
