Large Vintage Cocktail Ring with Chrysoprase & Diamonds in Gold, c. 1975

Magnificent cocktail rings first became all the rage in the 1930s and then again in the years following World War II. They typically featured a single, large gemstone as the centerpiece, which added a striking pop of color. This ring from the 1970s features a rather unusual setting: a large chrysoprase cut into a cabochon. The stone has a vibrant apple-green colour and is slightly translucent. A wreath of small diamond roses frames it, complementing it with their white sparkle. While the chrysoprase and diamonds are set in white gold, the high bezel and the three-part band at the shoulders are crafted from high-karat yellow gold. The ring features a bold design. It is very good in condition and exemplifies the aesthetic of the late 20th century with its preference for voluminous designs. The ring found its way to us here in Berlin.
