LARGE PAIR OF CANDELABRES, France, première moitié du XIXe siècle

A six-light chandelier, in gilded bronze with a brown patina, with a base in griotte red marble. Each arm features a female figure draped in the classical style, mirroring the others, adopting a pose almost in contrapposto, holding a staff in one hand and, with the other, raising aloft a vase-shaped shaft entwined with foliage. The cluster of lights is crowned by a spiral finial (removable), situated above the other five light arms. Each figure rests on a rectangular plinth of red griotte marble, encircled by gilded bronze and adorned on each side with wreaths tied with ribbons, enclosing musical trophies in relief. Empire period, attributed to Pierre-François Feuchère (1737–1823). Height: 95 cm. (Minor visible imperfections)
