Haring rose to fame for his simple yet powerful line drawings, often featuring stylized figures and symbols that convey messages of love, peace, and hope. His works are known for their accessibility and have been displayed in galleries as well as in public spaces. Haring actively advocated for social justice and HIV/AIDS awareness and founded the Keith Haring Foundation to support art and education projects. He is often associated with other New York City artists of the 1980s. Jean-Michel Basquiat, another well-known graffiti artist and activist, shared Haring’s interest in urban art and social themes. Also mentioned are Andy Warhol, one of the most prominent figures of the Pop Art movement who later supported Haring as a mentor and friend, as well as Julian Schnabel, a painter and filmmaker who was also an important figure in the Neo-expressionist movement.
