Jos Lussenburg (1889-1975) He is best known for paintings of life on and around the Zuiderzee. Lussenburg comes across in his paintings as a passionate romantic. From his youth in Enkhuizen he felt connected to the former Zuiderzee. The grey skies, the foaming waves, the stelters and herring busses, the sturdy sailors who keep the vessel on course on the tempestuous sea, reflect a longing for a vanished sea. His work reveals not only his engagement with the former Zuiderzee and the fishing life. Oil on canvas, 60 x 80 cm. The painting is fully signed 'Jos Lussenburg' and dated '57; varnish slightly yellowed and could use a refresh. The frame is in good condition with minor signs of wear; it is included with the work free of charge within the EU. Outside the EU, due to size and fragility, not included. The work is carefully packaged and shipped internationally by registered mail.
