全部拍賣 / Books, Maps & Manuscripts / John Dee; Meric Casaubon; Stephen Skinner - A True & Faithful Relation of Dr
Museum rarity for collectors of occultism and Renaissance magic! For sale comes one of the most sought-after facsimile luxury editions of the 20th century: the monumental work "A True & Faithful Relation of What Passed for Many Yeers Between Dr. John Dee... and Some Spirits", published in 1974 by the legendary Askin Publishers, London. This work is based on the time-honored first edition of 1659. It documents in detail the spiritual conferences, alchemy studies, crystal ball visions, and the communication with angels of the royal adviser Dr. John Dee and his medium Edward Kelley. Features of this milestone of esoteric literature: The exclusive Askin edition: whereas standard facsimiles of that time were often printed in thousands of copies, Askin Publishers offered for discerning collectors a highly coveted deluxe edition, worldwide limited to only 350 numbered copies. The sale is for the exemplar number 250 of 350. This edition includes an exclusive, historical introduction by Stephen Skinner, not found in other reissues. High-quality small folio with the characteristic noble leather spine and gold-embossed decorations. Including the frontispiece, the large folding plate (the magical "Holy Table") and the ceremonial diagrams. The leather spine and the book boards are in very good condition with only minimal signs of age or storage. The binding is perfectly sound. The inner pages, the folding plate and the diagrams are clean and stain-free.
