Authentic Sterling silver English lever escapement pocket watch from the late Victorian period (built in 1890). The object is in original condition. The silver dial features gold-colored Roman numerals, floral engravings in the center, and a decentralised seconds hand at the 6 o'clock position. The dial is in an arc signed with the name of the watchmaker: "John Charles, London". The inside of the case offers full provenance documentation. The solid sterling silver case (.925) is officially certified by the Chester Assay Office. The Gothic year-letter 'G' dates the case exactly to the year 1890. The case bears the master stamp RJP, which stands for case maker Robert John Pike from Coventry. Notably, this specimen retains the original, hand-engraved owner's signature "Andrew Henderson" on the inside of the rear lid. The mechanical movement is a classic English, gold-colored movement with an engraved balance cock and bears the serial number CH92141, matching watch production from Coventry in this period. This item is of historical interest to collectors of antique horology due to the full traceability of watchmaker, case maker, and first owner. The pocket watch runs and functions properly. Running duration and accuracy not tested. This special pocket watch is sent by registered mail and insured.
