Splendid eighteenth-century perspective view that illustrates the historic alpine town of Brunico. The composition perfectly highlights the late-medieval and Baroque urban structure of the town, dominated on the hill by the imposing silhouette of Brunico Castle (Das Schloss), the historic summer residence of the prince-bishops of Bressanone. In the background valley, the course of the Rienza River (Rienz) is clearly delineated, flanked by city walls, fortified gates, and the spires of the main churches (among which the indication of S. Catharina stands out). The sheet is enriched at the top and sides by wide blocks of descriptive text printed in old German Gothic type, narrating the history, origins, and geopolitical and commercial characteristics of the Puster Valley territory and the bishopric's domain of the era. Clear and crisp impression, with excellent legibility both of the dense hatching of the surrounding mountainous landscape and of the textual parts.
