After finishing his studies in 1880, he began painting intensely, drawing inspiration from the works of Morelli and Michetti, in a palette rich with intense colors. He created landscapes, scenes of Venice and Naples, scenes of daily life (often set against the backdrop of a market), children, street urchins, women with mischievous attitudes (the mother scenes are also typical), vulgar sensuality and still lifes.
