Inkwell - Encrier dans le goût Louis XV / Napoléon III

Golden bronze desk inkwell / writing desk in France, 19th century “SUSSE Fres Edt Paris” Elegant and imposing antique desk inkwell in gilded bronze, richly decorated with floral motifs, foliage, volutes and relief ornaments. The piece features a handsome rectangular base serving as a pen tray, adorned with a finely worked rocaille motif. The rear part is topped by a decorative architectural element with a lid and a top knob shaped like a pine cone. The sides are embellished with volutes and leafy elements. The whole reflects high quality casting and chasing and displays a particularly rich decoration, characteristic of French decorative desk objects from the second half of the 19th century, in the Louis XV / Napoléon III taste. Marking: The bottom of the piece clearly bears the mark “54 C. FRES PARIS”, visible in the photographs.
