Imposant paar Empire-kandelabers met klassieke kariatiden...

A particularly elegant and impressive pair of Empire candelabra, richly executed in patinated and gilded bronze (ormolu), placed on monumental pedestals of green-veined marble. Each candelabrum is carried by a graceful statue of a classical-style caryatid, finely modeled in dark brown patinated bronze. The stately female figures have serene facial expressions and wear long, classically draped robes, with deep folds executed with great care. Imposing Empire pair of candelabra with classical female Caryatids – gilded and patinated bronze – 19th century The slender silhouettes, refined hairstyles and carefully modeled details reflect the neoclassical language of form so characteristic of the Empire style. The Caryatids carry richly worked candle arms of gilded bronze, formed by elegant volutes and lavishly decorated with finely acanted acanthus leaves and classical ornaments. The warm gold-colored surface of the candle arms forms a particularly beautiful contrast with the deep dark-brown patina of the female figures. Notable is the refined execution of the sculptural details: the soft features, carefully worked hairstyles, bare feet and naturally flowing robes. Also the detailed chasing work of the gilded bronze ornaments testifies to high-quality craftsmanship. The figures rest on imposing pedestals of green-veined marble, finished with decorative gilded bronze mounts and profiles. This combination of precious materials gives the whole a luxurious and architectural appearance. With a height of 54 cm these candelabra have particularly graceful and impressive proportions. As a symmetric pair they form a stylish focal point on a mantel, console, or classical sideboard. An exceptional decorative pair that strikingly reflects the monumental, classical elegance and refined ornamentation of the Empire tradition.
