Hugo Pratt (Rimini, 1927 – Lausanne, 1995) is considered one of the greatest and most influential comic artists of the 20th century. He is the creator of the legendary sailor-adventurer Corto Maltese, an iconic series set in exotic locations around the First World War. His work is praised for its literary quality, beautiful black-and-white technique, and cinematic compositions.
