Exclusive Pair of Herend Porcelain Saucer-Ted Tazzine with Plates – Iconic Decor “Indian Basket Orange Rust” and “Nanking Bouquet Green” – Hungary 1960s/1970s These splendid pieces in fine multicolored hand-painted porcelain come from the renowned Hungarian manufactory Herend, founded in 1826. The lot offers two elegant cups with their respective saucers, expression of two of the brand’s most historic, sought-after, and iconic collections: 1. Cup and Saucer – Decor: "Indian Basket Orange Rust" (also known as Indian Basket in orange/rust tones). Characteristics: The model features a magnificent and vibrant floral motif inspired by the East, characterized by a rich composition of stylized flowers and foliage blossoming from a characteristic woven basket. The whole design is hand-painted in a warm and elegant single-tone orange-rust shade, expertly shaded. The rim of the saucer and cup is embellished with a refined continuous garland motif in the same tone. History: Originally created in the 19th century, this decor draws strong inspiration from classical and precious Eastern motifs imported to Europe by ships of the East India Company. This exotic and elegant motif became internationally famous when chosen and widely appreciated by Empress Eugenie of France, wife of Napoleon III, consecrating it as one of the brand’s undeniable masterpieces. 2. Cup and Saucer – Decor: "Nanking Bouquet Green" (pattern code: NBV) Characteristics: The model features an elegant and refined floral motif with an oriental taste, dominated by a magnificent green peony finely shaded, surrounded by small blossoms and foliage painted in the same delicate monochrome hue. On the porcelain surface are arranged pretty isolated floral sprigs, which give balance and breath to the composition. History: Created originally in the 19th century, Nanking Bouquet is inspired by ancient Chinese and Japanese decors (the famous Kakiemon porcelains). Reinterpreted with the mastery and finesse typical of Herend painters, it captures the charm of Asian flora, offering a design of timeless elegance, particularly loved in its fresh green variant. Technical Details and Conditions: Both models feature refined edged rims and bright 24-carat gold lustre details (visible, for example, on the flowers of the Indian Basket and along the profiles). The two sets are distinguished by the characteristic embossed texture of the white porcelain, known as the “Willow” (Osier) pattern, which faithfully reproduces the wicker weave along the rims with extraordinary elegance. The pieces are presented in excellent conservative condition, first choice and free of visible defects. On the bottom of each item is regularly affixed the blue factory stamp bearing the shield, the inscription "HEREND HUNGARY", "HANDPAINTED", accompanied by the model number and the decorator’s identifying initials (often hand-scribed, NBV for Nanking Bouquet Green). Based on the brand, production dates to the vintage period of the 1960s/1970s. Packaging and Shipping: We guarantee professional, careful, and generously sized packaging, produced with high-quality protective materials to preserve the total integrity of the porcelain during transport. Timely and trackable shipping via express courier."
