Far removed from Harley's signature heavy highway cruisers, this lightweight tactical machine was built in York, Pennsylvania, and primarily served as a dispatch, liaison, and reconnaissance vehicle for the British Army and other NATO forces. The MT350 evolved from the British-designed Armstrong MT500. When NATO adopted the MT500 as a standard military motorcycle in the late 1980s, Harley-Davidson acquired the manufacturing rights from Armstrong-CCM. Harley re-engineered the platform to meet modern military specs, sizing the engine down for efficiency and adding critical mechanical upgrades before delivering it to the British Army in 1993. Production ended in 2000 as military fleets began shifting toward diesel-powered vehicles. The MT350 earned a legendary reputation for durability, vastly outliving its intended service life. Today, ex-military surplus MT350s are highly sought-after by collectors, trail riders, and green-laning enthusiasts. Because they were built with premium cycle parts, they are notably easy to maintain.
