Gorgeous "Retro" Style Clip in Rose Gold with Diamonds, 1940s

This large brooch is designed as an elegant bow. Warm, shiny rose gold ribbons are loosely folded over one another. Sparkling diamonds in platinum settings are placed on some of the front bands. Further bows in the layer behind them swell in sculptural staggering. The brooch is a sparkling, shiny showpiece from an era that was used to darker days. Large clips like this one in the late Art Deco style are typical of the 1940s. For the first time, brooches were no longer only worn in the center of the neckline, but also on the shoulder, lapel or belt. The asymmetrical shape of the design refers to this. The use of shiny gold and rather small gemstones also speaks for this period, in which people often worked with existing materials, as global trade was very limited. All the greater is the joie de vivre that the design still conveys today. The brooch virtually vibrates with energy. The curved ribbons are plump and look as if they have just been tied. Unfortunately, we do not know where the brooch was made, as it is not hallmarked. We discovered the brooch here in Berlin.
