German edition, translated and augmented by the German botanist Friedrich Siegmund Voigt; complete in 6 volumes Volume I (1831) is devoted to mammals and birds; Volume II (1832) to reptiles and fishes; Volume III (1834) to mollusks; and Volume IV (1836) to annelids, crustaceans, arachnids, and apterous insects. The last two volumes, issued in 1839 and 1843, complete the set with the insects proper, followed by the zoophytes.
