GEI (Gebinete de Estudios Industriales) belongs to the important generation of Spanish manufacturers who developed modern and distinctive office lighting during the 1960s and 1970s. Although less documented than Fase, its surviving lamps demonstrate a similar interest in robust materials, mechanical adjustability, and sculptural forms. It was mainly specialized in table and desk lamps for modern homes and offices. Its models often combined lacquered steel or aluminum with chromed arms, wood details and opal glass diffusers. Adjustable shades, swiveling bases, articulated supports and hidden mechanisms gave many models remarkable flexibility. Several descriptions state that GEI was authorized to produce some Fase models. No contemporaneous contract, catalog, or other primary documentation confirming such an agreement has yet been found. The claim should therefore be treated with caution. Lamps bearing only a GEI label should not automatically be described as Fase products. The model 204 has a solid arm, rotating on a base equipped with ball bearings, allowing it to rotate. The aluminum diffuser is orientable via a joint and is equipped with a dual switch for fractional powering. There is a label on the base bearing the logo and on the bottom in plastic the word GEI raised.
