Description: Item/Description: Late 18th-century, original British School portrait, associated with or attributed to Thomas Gainsborough or his nephew and studio assistant, Gainsborough Dupont. Oil painting bust-length portrait depicting a gentleman with powdered white wig, wearing a dark navy double-breasted jacket with brass buttons. It features a classic Georgian "feigned oval" composition. No noticeable signature. Created in the style of (or by a follower of) the renowned English portraitist Thomas Gainsborough. Partial label adhered to stretcher reads in part: Gainsborough. Material: Oil on Canvas Dimensions: Image size: Height: 30"; Width: 25". Unframed. Condition: Signs of age and wear include craquelure, surface scratches, discoloration, denting, paint loss. Age: Late Georgian Era (1780-1790).
