Nietzsche wrote about this book: 'With [Thus Spoke Zarathustra] I have given humanity the greatest gift it has ever received. This book, with a voice spanning centuries, is not only the highest book there is, the book truly shaped by the air of height — the whole fact of man lies beneath it in enormous distance — it is also the deepest, born from the innermost wealth of truth, an inexhaustible spring from which no bucket descends, without rising again filled with gold and goodness.'
