Francesco Tei - Francesco Tei - Nutmeg grater - Wood

Handmade wooden grinder, decorated by hand, made in Florence by Francesco Tei's workshop, as evidenced by the original labels still present on the bottom of the object. The item is characterized by a refined hand-painted polychrome floral decoration and by a traditional structure with a metal crank and a lower collection container. It represents a valuable example of Florentine artistic craftsmanship of the 20th century, intended for both domestic use and the decoration of the kitchen and table. Originally conceived as a manual grinder for spices, it can be used for grinding peppercorns and other dry spices of similar size. Thanks to the sturdy structure and the traditional grinding system, it is also suitable for hard and fragrant spices such as nutmeg and other dry aromatics to be grated or crushed at the moment of use. The dimensions are approximately: height 21.5 cm; base 9 x 9 cm. The object presents in good overall condition, with normal signs consistent with age and use. The decorations are well preserved and the original labels are still legible. The small lower drawer is fixed and not removable.
