France - France; Il Bulino

One of a kind, this limited facsimile edition brings back to life the manuscript “Histoire d’amour sans paroles” (Chantilly, Musée Condé, MS 388) - a captivating testament to a timeless romance hailing from the early 16th century. Truly the ultimate "book for lovers," it paints the journey of falling in love through symbolic, character-rich illustrations. As you turn its pages, every emotion springs vividly to life: joy and playfulness, jealousy and frustration, quiet hope and burning desire. Because the author left no written text, the illustrations leave the story entirely to your imagination, allowing you to lose yourself in its silent narrative. This edition is elegantly preserved in a striking clam-shell silk box. Tucked inside is a comprehensive 61-page commentary in Italian, written by renowned scholars Patricia Stirnemann and Michel Zink, offering a deeper glimpse into its history. The facsimile itself is bound in an exquisite green leather cover, adorned with intricate gold foil stamping on the front, back, and spine. Book 19.2 x 13 cm (Presentation box 21.5 x 15 cm). Strictly limited to 500 copies worldwide. Pre-owned, like new.
