Frame - Wood / plaster and gilded paste - Italy in the 1800s

Fascinating and refined matched pair of rectangular frames, made in Italy in the second half of the 19th century. The frames are distinguished by a thick box-profile with great thickness and visual depth, characterized by an elegant alternation of color and material. The supporting structure features bands of solid wood stained in warm walnut tones with a glossy antique finish. The element of greatest value is the wide central molding, richly decorated with paste reliefs that develop a dense continuous ornamental motif of foliage, bead-and-reel, and punched geometric elements. The outer edge repeats a refined garland-style finish with laurel leaves and stylized botanical elements. Surface gilding applied in leaf preserves a splendid original patina, glossy and darkened at wear points, capable of imparting a marked luster and authentic antiquarian character to the piece. ideal for the display of decorative mirrors, important canvas paintings or antique prints. On the back the original hammered metal hanging ring is still present. The frames are structurally solid and intact. Notes: normal signs of time and very tiny, almost imperceptible, fissures in the pastiglia or minor losses of gilding that do not affect aesthetics but attest to authenticity and history (refer to the dense photo gallery for close-up details).
